"the sun, the soil and the water in between"

“The science of alchemy is one of the two oldest sciences known to mankind. The second one is the study of celestial bodies known as astrology.” Dr.Braden

The knowledge of ancient alchemists served as a link between our earliest understanding of nature and our modern science. Our physical bodies are made of the simplest elements “the dust of the Earth”.

Layers of Skin:

Your skin is a composite of three layers of connective tissue. The epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis join at cellular junctions to create the largest organ of your body. Skin loses dry and dead cells from top layer every single day. These cells are replaced by continuous cell division taking place at basal layer of skin “epithelium”. It takes a new cell every 30 days to reach the top most layer and being finally shed off. Thus a faster form of cell cycle regulation operates in skin epithelium.

Each layer of your skin has a unique role in maintaining homeostasis—your body’s state of equilibrium. The skin regulates internal body temperature, protects delicate internal organs, and defends against pathogens and microbes. Your skin plays a vital role in detecting hot and cold, regulating your body temperature and protecting your muscles, bones and internal organs from outside infection and disease.

The skin is the largest organ of the body and absorbs things good or bad through the epidermis into the bloodstream. Some of the ingredients that are often used in skin-care have been seen to cause major health issues such as cancer, reproductive issues, and endocrine disruptions. Everything we put on our skin is absorbed in only 30 seconds-60 seconds and then absorbed into our bloodstream. What we put on our skin has a direct effect to our health. We have to get very conscious of what we put on our bodies is as important as what we put in our bodies.

Our Cells:

Every day, every hour, every second one of the most important events in your life is going on in your body, is when our biological cells are dividing. When cells divide, they make new cells. A single cell divides to make two cells and these two cells then divide to make four cells, and so on. We call this process "cell division" and "cell reproduction," because new cells are formed when old cells divide. The ability of cells to divide is unique for living organisms.

Cells divide for many reasons. Our cells divide to replace old, dead, or damaged cells. Cells also divide so living things can grow. When organisms grow, it isn't because cells are getting larger, but organisms grow because cells are dividing to produce more and more cells. In human bodies, nearly two point five trillion cells divide every day.

You and I began as a single cell, or what you would call an egg. By the time you are an adult, you will have trillions of cells. That number depends on the size of the person, but biologists put that number around 37-50 trillion cells.

Some cells, like skin cells, are constantly dividing. We need to continuously make new skin cells to replace the skin cells we lose. Did you know we lose 30,000 to 40,000 dead skin cells every minute? That means we lose around 50 million cells every day. This is a lot of skin cells to replace, making cell division in skin cells is so important. Other cells, like nerve and brain cells, divide much less often.

Mitosis is how somatic—or non-reproductive cells—divide. Somatic cells make up most of your body's tissues and organs, including skin, muscles, lungs, gut, and hair cells. Reproductive cells (like eggs) are not somatic cells. Mitosis is what helps us grow and Meiosis is why we are all unique.

Ozonation Process:

Small concentrations of ozone occur naturally in the stratosphere, which is part of the Earth’s upper atmosphere. At that level, ozone helps to protect life on Earth by absorbing ultraviolet radiation from the sun, particularly UVB radiation that can cause skin cancer and cataracts, damage crops, and destroy some types of marine life.

All of our formulas are Ozonated. Our oil serums and water based products goes through an extended process where ozone is bubbled through it. The process of fully infusing our oil serums with ozone takes 3 weeks.

Ozone is a powerful oxidizer and this oxidation process is what makes it so effective as a water/oil purification agent, removing almost all foreign contaminants and molecules making it highly anti-microbial, anti-viral and anti-bacterial. Ozone (O3) contains three atoms of oxygen rather than the two atoms that oxygen (O2) contains. The additional atom of oxygen becomes a powerful, highly active element in our skin care and self are products.

The “Ozonated” oil heals damaged tissues and speeds up healing time. It works to clear bacteria (very beneficial on acne), viral and fungal infections. Ozonated oil stimulates the growth of new healthy skin cells, which refreshes your skin.

With its amazing ability to destroy pathogens and toxins, ozone is phenomenal for treating skin conditions. When applied to the skin, carries ozone’s powerful properties throughout the cells. It heals damaged tissues, cleanses and disinfects and stimulates rapid healing. Dry skin will be moisturized and swelling and inflammations will be calmed. This is superb for acne, rosacea and eczema.

Anti-aging benefits include stimulation of cell growth and proliferation, free radical scavenger on harmful toxins.and moisturizing facial conditioner. It repairs skin cells, boosts skin immunity and improves skin structure.

Increased oxygen levels, from the Ozone process, stimulate development of skin cells revitalizing and rejuvenating the body.

Moisture:

Water retention is essential for healthy, vibrant skin. Dry skin can lead to a rough and bumpy appearance, and can cause injury when your skin cracks and breaks. A recent study published in the International Wound Journal highlights the importance of moisturizing skin daily. Moisturizing skin twice daily was shown to reduce the incidence of skin tears by nearly 50 percent in elderly patients living in an assisted living facility.

For the most effective absorption of all the goodness of an oil-based serum, apply after your water-based serum and before you apply your cream-based moisturizer and/or sunscreen.

Also, applying before heading to bed. Our skin uses sleeping hours to rebuild and repair itself, so having these freshly applied nutrients is a perfect blessing for a fully regenerated morning.

Collagen + Elastin:

Your skin is made of a complex network of fibers and proteins that strengthen and reinforce its structure. Collagen and elastin are two of these integral proteins.

Collagen gives your skin incredible strength. Collagen production in the skin decreases as you age. This decrease can lead to the visible signs of aging—flat and dull skin, wrinkles, and fine lines. Several types of collagen proteins reside in your skin, and each performs a unique function.

At the dermal-epidermal junction (DEJ), collagen creates a structural framework for other skin cells. Collagen also plays a role in maintaining structural stability at the DEJ. Wrinkled skin contains much less collagen at the DEJ and the lack of stability of the area can lead to more wrinkles.

Elastin is another important protein in the skin matrix. It gives skin its bounce and resilience. Decrease in elastin production over time causes sagging skin.

While elastin naturally decreases with age, photo damage to this protein is the best understood cause of sagging skin. UV exposure causes elastin proteins to stiffen and coil, inhibiting their ability to bounce back into shape. Photo damage over long periods of time causes elastin proteins to lose their elasticity, keeping them from supporting the structure of your skin.

Skin + Aging:

Inevitably, your skin will change as you age. Many of the visible signs of aging can be minimized by proper skincare. There are two well-established causes of visible skin aging, which is intrinsic and extrinsic aging. Effective skincare regimens target the signs of both types of aging.

Intrinsic factors governing skin aging include variations in an individual’s genetic background. Extrinsic aging refers generally to factors that originate outside your body. These include smoking, sun exposure, and poor nutrition. Sunburn is thought to account for nearly 80 percent of premature facial aging. The extrinsic factors that cause premature skin aging are largely preventable.

One of the most effective methods of minimizing the appearance of aging skin is including antioxidants in your diet and in your skin-care. Antioxidants protect the skin by limiting free radical production that damage the skin. Berries, green tea, and vegetables are some notable antioxidants that can be found in your diet and skincare products. Antioxidants fight off the damage caused to skin cells from the sun, and promote healthy cell function. Antioxidants are not only important for your skin, but they help maintain a healthy brain and body, too.

Fun Skin Facts:

  • The average person’s skin covers an area of 2 square meters

  • Skin accounts for about 15% of your body weight

  • The average adult has approximately 21 square feet of skin, which weighs 9 lbs and contains more than 11 miles of blood vessels

  • The average person has about 300 million skin cells. A single square inch of skin has about 19 million cells and up to 300 sweat glands

  • Your skin is its thickest on your feet (1.4mm) and thinnest on your eyelids (0.2mm).

  • The skin renews itself every 28 days

  • Your skin constantly sheds dead cells, about 30,000 to 40,000 cells every minute! That’s nearly 9 lbs. per year!

  • Some sources estimate that more than half of the dust in your home is actually dead skin

  • Dead skin comprises about a billion tons of dust in the earth’s atmosphere

  • Your skin is home to more than 1,000 species of bacteria

  • Your skin has at least five different types of receptors that respond to pain and touch.

  • Changes in your skin can sometimes signal changes in your overall health

  • Your skin is a mirror of the lining of your gut

  • The lining of your gut, which is the surface of the tennis court, is actually your skin turned inside out

  • Our gut has a huge surface area, and is one cell thick

  • Aging is either quick or slow break down of the gut wall

  • Foreign Bacteria breaks holes in the gut wall

  • The more the wall breaks down, the faster you age

  • There is a mucus layer that line our gut, protects the gut from foreign bacteria that will harm us

  • The thicker our mucus lining of the gut, the younger we are

  • On the other side of your gut, 65% of your white blood cells reside and 65% of your immune system is in the lining of your gut

  • We are made up of more bacteria than human cells. Chlorine is very unhealthy since it kills good and bad bacteria. 50% of our daily dose of chlorine is absorbed through skin when showering. The outcome is the disruption of all our hormones. Shower filters, dish gloves and herbal remedies

  • Our skin is 64% water, thus drinking 2 liters of water per day assist with skin staying hydrated and supple

  • The skin-brain axis controls the endocrine system. Where, sunlight on the skin sends hormones to the brain.

Skin-care and Cosmetics Industry + FDA Regulations:

Approx. since 1930’s, Skin-care products have not had a new FDA ruling. Manufactures and consumers for years believed that skin was a protective layer and didn’t allow anything to absorb into the body. Due to this assumption, cosmetics and beauty products have been exempt from FDA regulation

Cosmetic companies are not required to list all of their ingredients on product labels if they add small amounts of an ingredient into a formula. Worst of all manufactures use penetration enhancers to help cosmetics and skincare to penetrate the skin

These enhancers allow easy access of chemicals into your body, which slowly accumulates over time in fat and organs. Researchers believe 85%-90% of cancer can be traced to environmental exposures from the foods we eat, the air we breathe and the chemicals we are exposed to.
